AMFM FAQs

The following are frequently asked questions about AMFM, we will add to or modify these as needed. If desired you may contact us through this website or by calling the church office 360-491-8954 ext.121 where you will be transferred to our voicemail. In both cases your inquiry will be responded to in a timely manner.

Are scholarships available?
Absolutely.  In this economy, many of us have tighter than usual budgets.  Please don't hesitate to request a scholarship. We are here to support each other in any way we can.

What is AMFM?
A Morning for Moms is a group of moms of all ages, whether your children are 6 months or 60 years old, we exist to connect moms for community and spiritual encouragement. Women… different sizes, different colors, different lifestyles… but all with similar needs…and a shared desire… to be the very best mothers they can be!

What is the purpose of AMFM?
We exist to unite, to encourage and to equip moms to be women of excellence in their God-given roles. AMFM provides encouragement, support, teaching, and friendships in a relaxed atmosphere of caring, sharing and fun. In these relationships moms find encouragement for their everyday dilemmas and discover a safe place to explore and discuss life.

What do you do at an AMFM meeting?
Each meeting consists of a speaker talking on various subjects that inform, teach, or encourage moms and/or an activity that could incorporate completing a craft, learning a skill, or serving one another. In every meeting there is emphasis on relationship building and open discussion on matters weighing on moms' hearts.

How much are AMFM meetings?
AMFM is a non-profit organization. The cost for each meeting is $4, which covers the creative activities, partial scholarships and other operating costs.  Payment reserves your space in AMFM and is due semi-annually, beginning with your initial registration.  It is our goal that no woman is kept from attending AMFM because of finances.  Partial scholarships are available if needed or the yearly fee can be paid in multiple installments.  Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for missed meetings.

When will AMFM meet?

AMFM will meet on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month from 9:30-11:15 am beginning in September, unless it falls during Winter or Spring break in which case we meet the 1st Friday alternatively.  For closures due to snow or ice, we will follow the Olympia School District Schedule. If the District is running 2 hours late, AMFM will be canceled. Please listen to a local radio station for cancellations.

Do I need to attend meetings regularly?
Yes, and we realize due to unforeseen circumstances or child illnesses you may miss a meeting. Please contact your Table Leader regarding your circumstances. If you miss 2 or more meetings during a Semester without contacting your Table Leader, you will be placed on the waiting list so a mom on the waiting list can attend AMFM.

Are there other opportunities to meet with AMFM moms?
Yes, and these occur throughout the year in the form of Mom’s Nights Out, and table get-togethers, just to name a couple of the possibilities.  Look on the calendar page of the site for dates and details.

How do I join AMFM?
To join AMFM a mom must turn in a completed registration form to the church office. The Registration Coordinator will determine if the mom can be admitted or placed on the waiting list. This is based on our class size within the AMFM Kids classes. The mom will then be notified.

What is the Waiting List?
Admission to AMFM depends on space within our AMFM Kids classes. If the classes are full, it may be necessary for some moms to wait until space within AMFM Kids opens. Some moms may potentially be on the Waiting List longer than others. When space does become available, the Registration Coordinator and the Table Leader will notify the mom. If a mom is not bringing children to AMFM there will most likely not be a waiting list for them.

Can I invite a friend to AMFM?
Yes, any mom is welcome to visit AMFM free of charge one time during the year. However, visitors with childcare needs are to contact us through the church office (491-8954) or this website, to arrange a visit.  We will need to prepare in advance for the childs activities or contact you if the childcare program is full.

What do the AMFM Kids classes consist of?
The AMFM Kids classes are designed to teach and care for the children while the moms are meeting. Children are cared for in a loving and warm atmosphere where they can grow socially and creatively through carefully designed programs and activities.

What is the age range of the children who attend the AMFM Kids Classes?
The children are between the ages of 6 months to 5 years old.  Children up to 13 years old have a connected room where they can do schoolwork. We ask that babies up to 6 months be kept with you during the program, where you are welcome to nurse or bottle-feed. We request that older children are kept in their respective classrooms so moms will be able to hear and participate in the meeting.

What if my child is sick?
To prevent exposure to other children we ask that you NOT bring sick children to AMFM Kids. Our teachers are instructed to not admit children who appear to be sick. Some signs of illness include, but are not limited to: vomiting, diarrhea, fever, unusual fatigue or irritability, listlessness, inflamed mouth or throat, rash, cough or colored discharge from the nose.

What if my child has special needs?
We welcome all children! If your child has special needs such as allergies, disabilities, birth defects, asthma, ADD, ADHD, etc., we ask that you please notify the AMFM Kids Coordinator. She will notify your child’s teacher and ask how to best suit the needs of your child. You also need to complete an AMFM Kid’s registration form listing such special needs, one for each of your children. We also encourage moms to communicate with their children’s teacher regarding their child’s well being.

Will I need to help in the AMFM Kids program?
Yes, on occasion it may be necessary for every mom that are part of the GCCC congregation to assist in the AMFM Kids program. How often depends on how many volunteers we have in our AMFM Kids program at that time.

I would like to be involved, how can I help?
AMFM is a group run by moms for moms. There are many areas for you to help out, as well as leadership opportunities. Please let someone on the Steering Team know of your interests and they will point you in the right direction. There are also forms called “Making AMFM Happen” located online on the forms page and in the church office listing specific areas to assist. Fill one out and give it to the Registration Coordinator or turn it in at the church office
